A surreal shopping experience
Oxford Street is a major road in the City of Westminster in the West End of London. It is Europe’s busiest shopping street, with around half a million daily visitors, and as of 2012 had approximately 300 shops. Okay, enough of all the boring deeds. 300 shops in one street, just making sure you got that. This must be shopping heaven, I thought to myself before embarking on my trip to London.
Wednesday, 19 October 2016, it was love at first sight. I was overwhelmed by all the sounds, smells and hundreds of people making their way into the shops. All the stories I’ve heard and articles that I’ve read about Oxford Street was true, this was indeed a shoppers heaven.
Not only do you find most of the trendy clothing stores, such as H&M, Topshop, River Island, Next and Forever 21 on this street, but two of them in the same street. This was too good to be true. So if you find something at H&M that you really want, but they don’t have your size, no need for panic. You only walk 500m further down the street to find the next H&M. How convenient!! This was most definitely a 1.9 km walk that I will do with a smile. Then there’s Primark, but boy oh boy this place needs a blog post of its own.
Apart from the super amazing shopping experience, I will always remember the sweet smell of Nutella waffles and pancakes on the side of the road, presented to you by a friendly food cart owner, ready to convince you to buy them. Note – I didn’t need a lot of convincing. From the bottom of my heart, I truly feel, that this is an experience every shop loving lady should have at least once in her life.
